One thing I firmly believe is that kids have all the fun. As we grow up and the responsibilities keep piling up, we find fewer things to have fun with. So when I had my own kids, my life became a lot more hectic, but I cannot even tell you how much fun I have while playing with them with all the stuff they have.

When my inner-child came out with my children, I also decided to do up all their rooms. So here are some of my personal favorite ideas, you should also try if you want to make your kids’ rooms look awesome!

Put up Cool Wall-Stickers

Put up Cool Wall-Stickers

Wall stickers are awesome because they are easy to put up and significantly improve the aesthetic of the room. Just remember to match the color scheme and get something child-appropriate!

Install Funky Shelves

Install some cube-shaped shelves along the walls to display your child’s toys, books, and other belongings.

Salt Lamps

Salt Lamps

Salt lamps are very beautiful and healthy items to place in your kid’s room. They create a soothing atmosphere around the room they are placed in.

With salt lamps on, your kids will feel more relaxed and it will eliminate excessive tiredness and fatigue. It will also help in improving your kid’s concentration in studies. So why not place a salt lamp on one of the shelves we have mentioned earlier.

Canopies on the Bed

Will canopies ever get old? A big no, so just put up a canopy on your kids’ bed. Hang a cute curtain of their favorite cartoon character, Disney Princess, or any other thing they love and I am sure they will be throwing their arms around you in no time!

3-D Letters Spelling Out Their Names

3-D Letters Spelling Out Their Names

Another amazing idea is to put up names of your kids in the form of 3-D letters anywhere in their room. You can add this adorable little prop along the wall or just place it on a shelf or tabletop. 3-D letters made of Styrofoam, wood or metal are easily available in the market these days.

Playing Arena

Playing Arena

Select a corner of the room and make it your kids’ play arena. You can set up a little campsite there, add in big toys like a model-spaceship or a little kitchen in that area. You can also put up a makeshift fence around that area to make it a more fun place.

Set up a Little Library

Show your kids the importance and fun of reading books while they are still young! Set up a little library, with their favorite books and shelves in the room. Keep adding to their collection to keep them interested.

Fun Soft Board

Fun Soft Board

Okay, you don’t have to buy a soft board for this. What I did was just to frame a part of the wall with washi tape. My kids now put up their drawings, timetables, homework, and everything else there.

Paint the Wall all Funky

Paint the Wall all Funky

I have a very artistic cousin. I paid her so that she can bring a little magic into my little boy’s room. She painted all the walls with an underwater scene. I was awed beyond belief! Everyone should also try that!

Paint the Ceiling

Paint the Ceiling

Some people don’t really like painting the ceiling because it could be a little tricky. But believe me, this is an amazing idea to bring life to your kid’s room. So paint the ceiling! Paint it like the sky, like outer space, or anything you can come up with!

Toy Storage

Toy Storage

Children have too much stuff and it’s a fact. Storing all that stuff is a huge problem. You can never have enough space for their stuff. I suggest you to add an under-bed storage and bring in large buckets to store all the miscellaneous stuff and the toys they are going to use again. Also, teach your kids to clean up their room after they are done playing at an early age.

Say Goodbye to Boring Lights

You can try something creative with the lights in your kids’ room. Paint little cartoon heads underneath them so it will add fun every time they switch on the lights!

Make an Art Corner

Set up a canvas, put crayons and paints in a little area in their room and your art corner is ready. Your kids can show up their artistic skills there.

Build a Small House in their Room

Make a small wooden house in their room. Put wooden walls and a window and the house is ready for your kids to have fun there.

Renovate it into a Theme Bedroom

Theme bedrooms are awesome but they might get boring sometimes. But you can renovate their room to look like a pirate ship or a treehouse.

Get Creative with Curtains

If you’re going to put up curtains in your child’s room, make sure they are not plain! Stich some applique patches on them or just paint something with some fabric paint and make them colorful.

Hang Some Cute Fairy Lights…

Fairy lights are another timeless classic. You can outline that soft board we mentioned earlier with them. You can also put them in jars and light them up for a funky lighting effect.

…or Other Accessories

Other Accessories

Add little paper stars or glitter in small jars and place them around the room for the cutest visual ever.

Buy Some Awesome Bedsheets

Buy Some Awesome Bedsheets

My children love cool bedsheets. If you are artistic you can turn a plain white sheet into a coolest, funkiest bedsheet. But if you aren’t, you can easily order some bedsheets online.

Add some Bean Bags and Little Chairs

Throw in some cool-looking bean bags so your kids can sit on them while reading books or while playing video games.

Make Little Hideout Areas

Make Little Hideout Areas

I remember once my husband installed these large tubes in my girl’s room so she and her friends could make a hideout inside them while playing hide and seek type games. There is hardly any other thing my kids have loved more.

Amp up the Beds

There are so many fun beds to choose from and it drives me crazy! You can look up at different DIY projects to totally change the look of your kids’ beds or you can buy a cool bed form your local furniture store.
